Resin Tank — Interior Cleaning

Resin Tank Cleaning Interior Tank

Safety
Permit-required confined space, LOTO, continuous gas monitoring
Residue
Heavy resin adhering to tank walls

The client requested Alliance to restore capacity and cleanliness in a resin storage tank where residue had formed a glue-like layer along the interior walls. Our team built a site-specific plan and JHA, coordinated lockout/tagout with operations, and established a confined-space program with trained entrants, standby attendants, rescue readiness, and continuous multi-gas monitoring. After establishing mechanical and air-assisted ventilation, technicians entered the space and performed controlled removal of resin using approved tools and methods designed to minimize vapor and airborne contaminants. Surfaces were rinsed and neutralized to the client’s acceptance criteria. We profiled, labeled, and manifested all waste streams for transport to approved facilities. Documentation—including permits, gas readings, photo logs, and manifests—was provided at closeout. The tank was inspected and returned to service on schedule.

Confined-space resin tank cleaning with ventilation, gas monitoring, residue removal, and compliant waste handling.

Challenge
  • Thick, highly adherent resin residue on vertical walls
  • Permit-required confined space with changing atmospheres
  • Coordinating LOTO and entry windows to avoid production impacts
  • Solution

Alliance sequenced entries to align with operations, implemented LOTO, and established strong ventilation and continuous gas monitoring. Crews used approved scraping/mechanical methods followed by rinse/neutralize to meet cleanliness targets. All residues and wash waters were profiled and manifested for compliant disposal. The tank passed final inspection and was placed back in service without incident.

    From Founder

“Discipline inside a tank is everything—good air movement, steady gas readings, and the right tools turn a difficult residue into a straightforward cleaning.”

    What we learned together

Early coordination on LOTO and disposal pathways avoids delays. With the right ventilation and tooling, even stubborn resin buildup can be removed efficiently and safely, shortening downtime.
