The PG&E Merced Service Center project required the demolition of an aging operations building containing asbestos materials.
While smaller in scale than some of our other projects, it demanded the same precision, regulatory compliance, and attention to safety that Alliance Environmental Services is known for.
The PG&E Merced Service Center required the demolition of an aging operations building that was no longer in use. While the structure appeared simple from the outside, hidden challenges included asbestos-containing materials within the building components, tight access routes, and active utility infrastructure surrounding the demolition zone.
The project demanded careful sequencing to ensure compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Cal/OSHA asbestos regulations, while also coordinating with PG&E’s strict internal safety standards.
Unlike high-visibility tower cleanings or wildfire remediation, this job was smaller in scope but critical in execution — the kind of project where the details make all the difference.

Alliance Environmental Services mobilized a certified asbestos abatement and demolition team, including licensed supervisors and technicians. Our approach included:
- Pre-demolition testing and surveys to locate asbestos-containing materials (ACM).
- Containment setup to isolate the building from active service areas.
- Manual removal of ACM under negative pressure, followed by certified disposal at an approved facility.
- Structural demolition of the operations building using compact machinery suited for tight site access.
- Air quality monitoring throughout the project to protect PG&E staff and the surrounding community.
- Final clearance inspections documented for PG&E compliance records.
Every phase was performed under strict regulatory oversight and Alliance Environmental Services’ internal quality standards.
The Solution
The building was fully demolished and cleared without incident, and all asbestos-containing debris was properly removed from the site. Our crew worked closely with PG&E’s environmental and safety managers to keep the project on track.
By combining hazardous materials expertise with demolition skill, Alliance Environmantal Services delivered a seamless solution on time and within budget - with zero safety violations.
